Position Summary

The Safety Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety within the Company. This position supports field operations by implementing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a culture of proactive hazard management in compliance with Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and mining-specific regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

• Conduct field inspections and audits at exploration camps, drill sites to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance
• Develop and deliver site-specific safety orientations and training for geologists, drill crews, and support staff
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring timely reporting and corrective actions
• Develop, maintain and update emergency response plans as well as relevant policies
• Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure alignment with company standards
• Coordinate PPE inventory and distribution across exploration sites
• Liaise with provincial regulators and ensure adherence to exploration-specific safety legislation
• Assist with all administrative tasks relevant to Health and Safety
• Support wellness initiatives and fatigue management programs for rotational crews

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
• Certifications in H&S a plus
• Minimum 3 years of safety experience in mining, exploration, or remote industrial settings
• Strong knowledge of Ontario’s OHSA and mining exploration safety standards
• Familiarity with wilderness first aid, wildlife protocols, and helicopter safety procedures a plus
• Proficiency in incident reporting tools and safety management systems
• Valid driver’s license
